ARTIST STATEMENT:

Ryle Ramirez is a Filipino-Canadian contemporary artist currently based in Alberta, Canada. Ryle’s artistic approach is characterized by challenging preconceived ideas and beliefs while evoking relatable and nostalgic reactions from his audience. Central to his work is the creation and design of "environments" that act as catalysts for new, natural, and instinctual emotions. Ryle firmly believes that 'comfort' originates within an environment, whether familiar or unfamiliar, intertwined with the viewer's own experiences. By intertwining these concepts, he skillfully constructs a meticulously curated collage of colourful fragments of memory, which serve as the foundation for his immersive environments. Through his art, Ryle encourages viewers to look further into themselves, their beliefs, emotions, and past experiences, fostering a sense of shared reality and commonality among individuals.

By engaging with Ryle’s work, viewers are invited to explore their inner selves, contemplating their own perspectives, and connecting with the collective human experience. His art serves as a medium for introspection, encouraging viewers to seek deeper connections and realize the shared aspects of being human. Through his thought-provoking creations, Ryle aims to inspire a sense of unity and togetherness, transcending boundaries and fostering a deeper understanding among individuals in this vast sea of shared reality.
