The health and safety of our patrons, staff, and artists is our top priority. We’re taking extra precautions during COVID-19.

On Arrival

Masks are required at all times throughout the building. While cash is accepted, please make payments by credit or debit card whenever possible to create a touchless environment. However, because touchless is not always possible, staff, volunteers, and patrons are asked to wash and/or sanitize frequently. Hand sanitizer stations are available throughout the facility and venues.

Attending a Performance

In accordance with the Arts Commons and Resident Company vaccination policy, entry will be denied for those who are not fully vaccinated or cannot provide the required documentation at the time of their event, and will be redirected to the box office. For more information, click to read the full Audience Vaccination Policy.

We encourage social distancing while in shared spaces within Arts Commons, such as lobbies and box office lines. Food and beverage consumption may be limited to either a venue lobby or your seats in the theatre, depending on the producing company's policies. Some seats may remain empty to accommodate social distancing. Please remain in the seat you were assigned.

Surfaces and Air Circulation

In addition to increased frequency of routine cleaning, as recommended by Alberta Health Services, venues, high-traffic areas, and frequently touched surfaces will be cleaned and sanitized before, during, and after every event, in every venue. Energy-efficient MERV 15A air filters (used in general areas of hospitals) have been installed to optimize air quality throughout the building.

Air Sterilization

Arts Commons has implemented an Ultraviolet Germicidal Irradiation (UVGI) solution in the building. This technology provides effective air sterilization through ultraviolet germicidal lights that produce short-wavelength light that destroys the genetic material in the nucleus of cells of microorganisms such as bacteria, viruses, and molds. Our UVGI system is installed in the ducts of our heating, ventilating, and air conditioning systems and irradiates the small airborne particles containing microorganisms as the air flows through the return air ducts in our spaces. Treating the air at these locations also ensures that air exhausted from the building is also sterilized.

Not Feeling Well?

Arts Commons Presents has temporarily changed our refund policy for the 2021-22 season. With this new “Change of Heart” refund policy, if you have been exposed, are feeling unwell, or have simply decided that you are not comfortable attending, you may receive a full refund for any Arts Commons Presents presentation. Please note that 3rd parties that rent our facilities and resident companies may have different refund policies – ensure you check prior to purchasing.

Welcoming Schools, Students and Teachers

We are excited to welcome school and learning groups back to Arts Commons. We ask that all groups know the COVID-19 policy of their affiliate school board prior to booking a field trip to Arts Commons. If your school group is unaffiliated, please refer to the Arts Commons and Resident Companies vaccination policy.
