Calgary Philharmonic Orchestra
Formed in 1955, the Calgary Philharmonic Orchestra (Calgary Phil) is the fifth largest symphony in Canada and is considered one of the nation’s finest and most versatile orchestras. It has been described as “inventive and visionary” and an “artistically mature orchestra of national importance.” When Arts Commons opened its doors in 1985, the Jack Singer Concert Hall became the home of the Calgary Philharmonic Orchestra. In 65 concerts per season, Calgary Phil offers a rich repertoire, from classical giants to rock and roll hits to family favourites. Calgary Phil also sometimes serves as the orchestra for Alberta Ballet and Calgary Opera performances.
