ARTIST STATEMENT:

HENGĀM is a generative art piece plotted on a series of A3 papers. During the peak of the pandemic, I moved to an island in the south of Iran called Qeshm and neighboring that beautiful land, there was a small island called Hengām. In my language Farsi, Hengām means “moment” or “an instant” and for me Hengām was a place where time stood still! I spent many occasions on one of the many beaches in Hengām, just staring at the sea and losing myself in its eternal yet ever shifting imagery. In this work, I’m trying to recreate that feeling, although I’m certain I can’t ever bring it to life in all its glory and in the end, it is all a futile attempt!
