ARTIST BIOGRAPHY

A.N. is a pop-rock musician (recording artist, singer, songwriter, teacher, and guitarist) and multi-disciplinary writer (playwriting, poetry, journalism) based in Calgary on Treaty 7.  

In 2020, she participated in SOCAN’s Equity X Production Mentorship Program and made her festival debut at Sled Island 2022. In the fall of 2022, she began a residency at Mount Royal University’s Trico Changemakers Studio as a part of the Artist as Changemaker residency 2022-2023 cohort. In January 2023, she began Woezo Africa’s Black Arts Mentorship program, and is under the mentorship of hip hop artist Thabo Chinake/KTheChosen. In early 2023, she also took part in Women in Music Canada’s Entrepreneur Accelerator program. In February 2023, she competed in Rise Up’s business pitch competition, ending up as a top 3 finalist in her category (creative arts/culture). That month, she was also featured on episode 36 of Calgary Arts Development’s Living a Creative Life Series. As a part of Chromatic Theatre’s 2022-2023 Playwrights Unit, the reading for her play I’m Not Afraid to Die Anymore – based on her upcoming album – took place June 2023, at Arts Commons’ Motel Theatre. She is now preparing for the release of her first official project called I’m Not Afraid to Die Anymore, a record about stepping into one’s power, produced by James Bunton.
