Dr. Arun Lakra

AC-OurStory-BoardMember-ArunLakra-4x3

By day, Arun Lakra is an ophthalmologist. He completed his medical school and residency at the University of Toronto and his internship at the University of Hawaii (where he learned how to surf and to suture himself up after surfing). Arun returned to his hometown of Calgary in 1997 and is presently in private practice at the Calgary Ophthalmology Centre.

Arun also wears the hat of a writer. He wrote the multi-award-winning play Sequence, which was produced by Downstage Theatre/Hit and Myth Productions at The Big Secret Theatre in 2013. Sequence won the Betty Mitchell Award for Outstanding New Play and the Calgary Theatre Critics Award for Best New Script.

When he is not examining eyeballs or pursuing creative endeavors, Arun is an exhausted father of two great kids. Arun has served as an Arts Commons Board Member since 2014.
