ARTIST STATEMENT:

I grew up in Calgary and sports were a huge part of my identity. I always knew I would be playing something professionally and basketball became my chosen path as I grew older and taller. I received multiple scholarships to play and Red Deer College was where I need up playing my first year. This is where I took fine arts and was introduced to painting. 

Drawing and sculpting always came naturally to me and I feared painting because I didn't feel I could be apart of a practice so well recognized and critiqued worldwide. It was at RDC that my professor showed me how fearless the process of painting is and how mistakes are good. I fell in love with the work. The pandemic provided to be the catalyst for creating art to move to the forefront of my days and I let go of my days as an athlete to take a leap of faith to where I am now.
