ARTIST STATEMENT: 

Vivid Indicator is a jam session of my latest artwork(s) all coming together. In the recent F is for Fem show with the Fem Assembly, I observed people responding to my work with smiles on their faces. I aim to duplicate this response here. :) 

Ceramics, painting, props, etc. interact in a choreographed display case, celebrating elements from nature that are re-interpreted through my imagination. Vivid Indicator serves to engage viewers on notions of the natural world, where the content is the result from induced sensations felt from the presence of lichen(s), which are indicators of “fresh air.” 

ARTIST BIOGRAPHY:

Diane McGeachy works primarily in painting, ceramic, and drawing. Never subscribing to a singular way of making, she graduated with a major in Interdisciplinary Art from AU Arts in 1993. She also holds a BA Sp. in Art History from the University of Alberta, and an Education degree from the University of Calgary. She has exhibited locally, nationally, and internationally. Diane’s work is in the Alberta Foundation for the Arts permanent collection, as well as many other private collections. Her work merges outdoor experiences, queer ecologies and riot grrrl aesthetics, among other concepts. She maintains her active studio practice in Calgary, Alberta.
