Artist Bio
Keep Count Dance Collective is a local dance collective based in Mohkinstis Treaty Seven Territory, (Calgary, Alberta, Canada). Keep Count explores jazz and contemporary dance styles of movement, related theories, and philosophies and how they can intersect. Co-creators and Artistic Directors Maddy Faunt and Sarah Vander Ploeg both met at the University of Calgary, where they trained in contemporary and jazz styles. The pair also trained under Decidedly Jazz Danceworks within their Professional Training Program, Sarah in 2023 and Maddy in 2024. Keep Count believes in multimedia ways of bringing their concepts and creations to life through dance film, visual photography and live performances.
Keep Count has had the privilege of presenting their work in multiple festivals such as Wilddogs International Screendance Film Festival 2022 (Award Winning - “Show-Her” & “Ripe Love”), Ignite Festival 2023 (“pointless purSUIT”) and MoRFlix Film Festival 2023 (“Wandering Lines”).
