Artist Statement for Etuaptmumk

I've chosen to represent my perspective through mixed-media and collage, reflecting the way diverse influences shape an individual’s worldview. Everyone is a blend of their experiences, interests, and heritage, creating a unique lens—what I see as their own form of two-eyed sight.

For me, Two-Eyed Seeing means embracing both Indigenous and non-Indigenous perspectives for a broader understanding. As someone with Cree-Dene heritage, I’m eager to reconnect with Indigenous teachings, especially through art. This exhibit offers a chance to explore that connection while learning and growing.

Art grounds me, sharpens my attention to detail, and helps me appreciate things others might overlook. I love horror, Disney, and creative expression in all forms, from music and theatre to illustration and design. My goal is to bring these passions together in the video game industry, especially within indie studios." Connor Burgart prides himself on being a jack of all trades.

Alongside self-taught practice with digital illustration, he is also pursuing a degree in music from the University of Calgary.
