Arts Commons has replaced all of the disposable coffee and plastic cups, cutlery, and napkins used at our venue bars with biodegradable options, endeavoring to come as near as possible to a zero waste facility. Throughout the building, waste receptacles have been converted to compost, recycle, and landfill. This move is in line with the Arts Commons mandate to divert as much waste from landfills as possible, including the reuse and refurbishment of old theatre seat backs into the acoustic ceiling of the Jack Singer Rehearsal Hall.
Arts Commons has also replaced nearly all of the thousands of light bulbs in our building with high-efficiency bulbs, greatly decreasing our power consumption. Since 2015, we have also replaced all of our plumbing with water-efficient fixtures, decreasing our water consumption by 5,752,000 litres of water!
You can help Arts Commons by placing your waste in the correct receptacle and help us minimize our impact on the environment.
