The Jack Singer Concert Hall is getting a facelift with 2,057 new seats. As sad as we are to say goodbye, 32 years of love have taken their toll on our original seats, resulting in failing hardware and disintegrating foam cushioning. So, this season, we’re enhancing your experience at Arts Commons with a comfortable new upgrade!
As the new seats go in, the old seats will be broken down into their component parts for reuse and recycling. The metal parts will be melted down for reuse. While the seat backs from the Max Bell and Martha Cohen Theatres were repurposed into acoustic ceiling panels for the Jack Singer Rehearsal Hall and also donated as woodworking materials to Calgary artist Lisa Brawn.
In addition to installing new seats, we are also reconfiguring the Hall itself to provide a more intuitive seat numbering system and more accessibility options. In the majority of cases while your seat number may change, your same great seat location will remain the same. Where this is not possible, we will secure a comparable seat for you and contact you with the option to confirm or choose a different seat, before single tickets and new subscriptions go on sale.
