Our first stop in the 2023-24 BD&P World Stage tour is France! Get ready for a medley of two of its finest art forms: live orchestra and cinema.

Twenty years ago, the French animated feature film The Triplets of Belleville swept the globe, racking up awards, nominations, and hearts along the way. Much of it came down to the Oscar-nominated score by Benoit Charest, which transported kids big and small into the streets of 1920s Paris and Le Jazz Hot.

This live eight-piece orchestra performance of the original score, conducted by Benoit Charest himself, accompanies a screening of the beloved film on our larger-than-life screen on the Jack Singer Concert Hall stage. Saddle up for the misadventures of a kidnapped Tour de France cyclist, his would-be rescuer grandmother, and the titular trio of larger-than life vaudeville divas, all accompanied by the speakeasy-slick sounds of un orchestre sans pareil.

Join Arts Commons Presents for this animated evening with the BD&P World Stage series performance of The Triplets of Belleville: 20th Anniversary Film in Concert.

Please note: This show has no intermission

"Extraordinary!... A bracing blend of silliness and sophistication! It's comic, touching, and a visual knockout." - Rolling Stone

"Le Terrible Orchestre de Belleville banged, strummed, and clanked everything but the kitchen sink in re-creating their original soundtrack in live accompaniment to the film... Vraiment magnifique!" - The Austin Chronicle

"The Triplets of Belleville is a gloriously oddball animation, adorned with superb songs that glitter like lights on the Seine and clatter like old cars on cobblestones." - The Age
