Pink Martini featuring China Forbes

Pink Martini regrets to inform you that, due to a health issue, they have unfortunately been forced to cancel their upcoming date in Calgary. If you are impacted, please contact the Arts Commons box office at 403-294-9494 or boxoffice@artscommons.ca for more information.

It’s an unlikely combination: one band, one concert, 25 languages sung in a style that defies genre and classification. What is it? A band called Pink Martini, founded by Thomas Lauderdale in Portland, Oregon over 25 years ago. From its happenstance roots (a no-show act caused Thomas to jump into action) to a decades-long legacy, Pink Martini has practically created a genre for itself, and it’s working.

“It’s not every night that an audience of teens, parents and grandparents can kick up its heels together in a conga line around the mezzanine at Roy Thomson Hall,” writes the Toronto Star. From the Telegram, “Pink Martini takes the audience on dazzling ride!”

What’s their secret? To audiences, it’s the joy and energy that Pink Martini brings to every performance. When times are tough and the world is getting you down, Pink Martini is here to give you a reason to smile and move your feet.

Join Arts Commons Presents and the TD Jazz series and see the unique, the versatile, and the quirky, Pink Martini featuring China Forbes.

“German, Japanese, Croatian, French, Turkish and Greek…Pink Martini's unlikely multilingual formula still works magnificently.”

“German, Japanese, Croatian, French, Turkish and Greek…Pink Martini's unlikely multilingual formula still works magnificently.”

"This is rich, hugely approachable music, utterly cosmopolitan yet utterly unpretentious. And it seems to speak to just about everybody … from grade-schoolers to grandmothers to the young and hip and beautiful."
