Pink Floyd: Wish You Were Here

Written by Arts Commons | May 1, 2025 3:00:00 PM

It’s 1975. The mega-hit Jaws hits theatres for the first time, Natalie Cole wins two GRAMMY Awards for her debut album, and Pink Floyd’s Wish You Were Here debuts as one of the greatest progressive rock albums of all time.

The spacey prog rock synths of Wish You Were Here simultaneously give a melancholic ode to the absence of bandmate Syd Barrett as well as delivering a disenfranchised critique of the music industry.

From the mournful refrain of “So you think you can tell heaven from hell, blue skies from pain” by Roger Waters to the cynical cry of “riding the gravy train” by guest vocalist Roy Harper, Wish You Were Here is a transportive ride through Pink Floyd’s experimental soundscape.

Experience the album as it was meant to be heard, note for note, cut for cut, as the Classic Albums Live band pulls back the curtain on the seedy underside of the music industry for one nostalgic night of music greatness.

Audience Advisory: Classic Albums Live uses theatrical haze - a water-based atmospheric effect to help with lighting. But don't worry, this is non-toxic, has no scent, and typically doesn't affect patrons or performers.
