FLOZ

ARTIST STATEMENT:

Irregular and unconventional, what makes him right for this job can sometimes mean the wrong thing for everything else. Open-minded, and embracing a vast array of inspirational material from "The Everyday" such as movies, art, music, popular vibes, unpopular opinions, current trends, the music playing in grocery stores - and every other virulent influence that we experience from The Everyday. Life is beautiful and the world around us is overwhelming.

ARTIST BIOGRAPHY:

FLOZ is a Freelance Illustrator and Visual Artist born in Yellowknife, NWT, and a member of the YKDFN (Yellowknife's Dene First Nation); residing in Calgary, AB, who graduated from the Alberta College of Art & Design.

Growing up he relocated often between provinces, towns, schools, and friends. Different places, different lives; but it's all still the same. We experience commonalities within our everyday lives, things that we do, and don't do without realizing. He describes this term as "The Everyday"; an omnipresent force that every person experiences, and drives the inspiration within his artwork. How fun.

"FLOZ" started as a term used to describe the imperfections within his artwork. The great struggle for the Artist to transcribe the 'image' within our heads, into a physical 'art-form'. We are all perfectionist's to some extent. So much can happen between those stages, both good and bad. It was within these 'imperfections' and 'flaws' of the artwork where his personal style began to change.

To embrace the mistakes that are made during the artistic process, and in life - maybe something new will develop from this successful, or failed idea. Nothing is ever perfect, but nonetheless we try.

Stand in the same place for too long in life, and you'll never move - you can never know how to succeed at something if you don't ever try it.
