Manager, Events & Sales

We are seeking an enthusiastic and experienced team player to fill the full-time position of Manager, Events & Sales. The Manager, Events & Sales will strive to fulfill the Vision and Mission of the Centre through offering the highest level of service for the users of Arts Commons in assisting them with the planning and execution of their events, developing and fostering its relationships, as well as overseeing the sales process. Reporting to the Manager, Customer Service & Events, the Manager, Events & Sales provides leadership and support to both staff and management teams. Primary responsibilities:
  • Annual department budget planning, monitoring, setting departmental goals & targets and subsequent achievement of targets as approved
  • Create and develop a sales strategy for new and existing markets and oversee its implementation
  • Assist the users of Arts Commons with their event management from start to finish
  • Lead the team on the floor during high profile events, including working as a Front of House Manager as necessary
  • Actively seek event opportunities for Arts Commons which achieve both economic and mission based benchmarks
  • Manage incoming enquiries in a professional and efficient manner, maintaining the highest level of customer service
  • Foster and grow the relationships with internal and external clients
  • Foster, develop, and grow the reputation of the organization as a meeting & gathering place in the community
  • Manage settlement of all performance event contracts, including nights of settlement
  • Create year end reporting, with the objective to improve the overall client experience and to maximize results for Arts Commons
  • Provide leadership and support to all team members
  • Other duties as required by the Manager, Customer Service & Events
Applicants should have a degree or diploma in a related field, such as Performing Arts or Special Events, and a minimum of 5 year facility event management, sales, and/or booking experience. Other desired skills and qualifications include:
  • Front of House services experience with an emphasis on exceptional customer service
  • Knowledge and understanding of arts sector, and meeting & event industry
  • Special Events co-ordination and budgeting
  • Excellent customer influence and negotiation skills
  • Flexible, able to offer creative solutions and options to solve problems
  • Exudes a confident and authoritative manner in all professional dealings
This position has a 40-hour work-week, with occasional evening, weekend and holiday work required. Applicants must have the ability to work flexible hours as needed, with some shifts over 8 hours in length, and must be able to stand and work at a function for up to four hours at a time.
