Arts Commons Presents:
Caverns of Sound from sound artist Aidan Lytton
CALGARY – Arts Commons Presents is proud to share a unique soundscape by media artist Aidan Lytton. Part meditation, part atmospheric journey, Caverns of Sound explores an otherworldly cave environment.
Sound artist Aidan Lytton utilizes field recordings to create a mysterious, playful, and deeply enthralling multi-layered soundscape that transports you deep underground.
“Caves are places of great mystery. To our early ancestors they represented both refuge and danger, and even today they can inspire an intermingling of awe and terror. The power of the cave is one of transformation, of death, and re-birth,” says Lytton.
“It is for these reasons that I have chosen to utilize the metaphor of the cave as a vehicle to craft an otherworldly soundscape.”
The Arts Commons +15 Soundscape is a unique multichannel sound system that provides sound art opportunities to local and national sound artists, which is available for passersby to freely experience.
