Arts Commons Presents:
Nimble-fingered Ukulele Player Jake Shimabukuro Comes to Calgary

CALGARY – As part of the BD&P World Music series, Arts Commons Presents viral ukulele prodigy, Jake Shimabukuro, on March 9, 2017 at 7:30pm in the Jack Singer Concert Hall.

A nimble-fingered player of the humble ukulele, Jake Shimabukuro will change your perception on this seemly simple instrument with his energetic performance.  His soulful interpretations of Bohemian Rhapsody and Ave Maria brought him viral fame, landing him on worldwide tours including his noted TED talks appearance.

“There are times when you can just feel everyone breathing together, or everyone just holding their breath till that last note disappears…those are the key moments when I feel most inspired,” says Jake Shimabukuro.

Collaborating with artists such as Yo-Yo Ma, Ziggy Marley, Jimmy Buffet, and Bela Fleck and the Flecktones, as well as a special collaboration with Bette Midler, leading to his performance of a lifetime for the Queen of England, you won’t want to miss this breakout star live at Arts Commons.

Watch Jake Shimabukuro’s original viral video of While My Guitar Gently Weeps and his appearance on TED talks.
