INVASION OF THE BODY DYSMORPHIA is an evolving installation of accumulated corporal signifiers slowly overtaking the Ledge Gallery. The exhibition utilizes intuitive chaos to deconstruct the physical body through automatic assemblage and uninhibited emotional unrest. Initiated as a curation of static sculptures and mixed media collages situated within the realm of self-representation, the objects will sporadically animate their own decay by the amassing of anxieties and antagonism.
Responding to the intumescence of these objects the limited spatial area of the Ledge Gallery will gradually become destabilized via constant rebirth and remediation. A cross-disciplinary collaboration between two Calgary based visual artists, INVASION OF THE BODY DYSMORPHIA is a catalyst to engage each other in an experimental installation of queer identity, internal turmoil and physical agitation. Driven by intersections of research, reaction and alteration the project is a constantly transforming landscape embodying the dichotomy of deterioration and accretion.
Khrysta Lloren was born in Cebu, Philippines in 1991. She studied in the Alberta College of Art and Design, where she received her Bachelor of Fine Arts. Lloren is the Co-Founder of Plethora Artist Guild and BabyGurl$ Collective.

Both Calgary based visual artists work with a variety of mediums to deconstruct perceptions of the body, gender and identity.
