About Dane Cook
He sells tickets: Dane is one of the biggest ticket-sellers in the history of comedy. In 2013, Dane returned to the Montreal stage to host an absolutely explosive, opening night, sold out Gala at the Just For Laughs Festival. He has sold out numerous arenas and theatres throughout his illustrious career including Madison Square Garden where he sold out two shows in one night!
He’s a record breaker: Dane has released eight comedy albums/specials and in 2006, his special Retaliation became the highest charting comedy album in 28 years, earning him a place alongside best-selling comedy vets George Carlin and Steve Martin.
He’s on TV and in the movies: Dane has guest starred in popular TV shows like Louie opposite Louis CK and Workaholics on The Comedy Network. Some of his other film credits include starring roles in My Best Friends’ Girl opposite Kate Hudson, Dan In Real Life opposite Steve Carrell and Mr. Brooks opposite Kevin Costner.
The kids love him: Dane recently reprised his role as the voice of “Dusty” in Disney’s animated film Planes: Fire & Rescue, the sequel to Planes, which grossed over $219 million.
No really, the kids love him: An early adopter of social media, Dane has a close connection to his fans with some 3.4 million followers on Twitter and over 650k followers on Instagram.
What’s Next: American Gods, Bryan Fuller’s TV adaptation of Neil Gaiman’s classic novel where Dane will play best friend Robbie.
But for now … Dane returns to Canada to partake in Just For Laughs’ most prestigious tour. Canadian audiences will witness Dane’s unique brand of stand-up and accessible guy-next-door attitude through his energetic physical comedy, clever wordplay and trenchant observations about human behaviour which have galvanized audiences of all ages.
About Dane’s friends
He knows how to look on the bright side of life: After being diagnosed with a brain tumor and having surgery in 2000, Vinny found an outlet for his experiences through stand-up.
He’s socially awkward: In 2013, he started the live stand-up comedy show “Socially Awkward” that is now featured monthly at the famous Hollywood Improv Comedy Club and has featured some of the biggest names in comedy.
He’s got something for everyone: LAFT Magazine called John a “A comedian for the people.”
He’s got comedy specials: His debut comedy album Nervous, recorded at NYC’s The Stand Comedy Club, was highly regarded and he has recently released his second comedy album New Phone, Who is This? which was ranked #1 for New Comedy Releases during its opening weekend.

The Jack Singer Concert Hall in Arts Commons is described as one of the most beautiful and acoustically acclaimed venues in North America. Home of Calgary Philharmonic Orchestra, BD&P World Music, and TD Jazz, audiences are treated to some of the world's finest musical events. The hall also welcomes a spectrum of events each season from TED talks and National Geographic speakers, to wedding dinners on the stage and rock stars on tour.
Named after Mr. Jack Singer ($1.5M contribution from his sons, Alan and Stephen Singer), the concert hall is also the home of the Carthy Organ donated by the Carthy Foundation in the amount of $750,000 in memory of Mrs. Margaret Mannix. Suspended high above the stage is a laminated, 185,000-pound (90-ton) spruce-wood acoustical canopy that can be raised or lowered to tune the hall according to the specific needs of each performer.
Over its 32 year life, Jack Singer Concert Hall has undergone many upgrades to ensure that it remains a state-of-the-art performance hall, including a new million dollar sound system with state-of-the-art hearing assistance in 2004, a complete replacement of all its analog sound boards in 2014, and the future replacement of all of its seats to be completed by fall 2017.
