Arts Commons Presents
Happenings 8: Contemporary Craft
Monday, April 24, 2017 from 6-9pm
Mezzanine Level of Centre Court above Ca' Puccini
This isn’t your grandmother’s craft party! The current exhibiting artists push the boundaries of what craft can by using concepts that question social and political concerns. These artist receptions and art parties are designed for you to self-curate your own art experience. Happenings is a FREE event open to the public so bring your friends! And, Happenings #8 is a party that you won’t want to miss!
Happenings 8 will also feature a screening of The Jazz Loft According To W. Eugene Smith in the Hub (located on the +15 level of Arts Commons outside Jack Singer Concert Hall) at 7pm as part of International Jazz Day. Admission to the film is free on a first come, first served basis.
We are celebrating the following exhibitions in the Arts Commons galleries:
The Ledge Gallery: Eveline Kolijn
Window Galleries: Dayna Ellen, Felicity Hart, Jocelyn Reid, Violet Costello
Broadcast Lab (formerly Gallery of Alberta Media Arts): Philip Hoffman (March), Mary-Anne McTrowe, The Burn Family, Rosanna Terracciano (April - May)
Lightbox Studio: Chelsea Ruston
+15 Soundscape: Chandra Melting Tallow
So many more opportiunities to engage with artists and the work that they create. There will also be three live performances throughout the evening and artist talks lead by Pete Meadows founder of Tiny Gallery.
Thirsty? Well there will be a CASH BAR!
