This passionate retelling of a Russian classic will blow your mind. Innovative and in-your-face, this is musical theatre at its best. A runaway hit in Vancouver last season, Onegin is not to be missed. Undeniably charming and unreservedly sexy, don’t let this lover get away.
A thrilling, contemporary adaptation of Pushkin’s timeless poem and Tchaikovsky’s renowned opera, Onegin features a high-energy musical score to tell a sweeping tale of unrequited love, infatuation, and intrigue. When the young and innocent Tatyana falls in love with the self-obsessed aristocrat Eugene Onegin, he firmly rejects her, arousing passionate love letters, noble duels and second chances.
A new Canadian musical from two of the creators of Do You Want What I Have Got? A Craigslist Cantata, Onegin wowed west coast audiences in 2016 winning an unprecedented 10 Jessie Awards. Through Hille and Gladstone’s original, rousing score, audiences are swept into a musical experience as immersive as love itself.

Located on the south-east corner of Arts Commons, the traditional style of the Max Bell theatre breathes elegance, and is home to one of Calgary’s foremost theatre companies, Theatre Calgary.
A proscenium theatre, Max Bell Theatre has wrap-around seating on three levels and is versatile in scope through its adjustable seating and staging features. Moveable hinged box seats on both sides of the auditorium near the stage can be angled toward centre stage, left flat against the side walls or positioned somewhere in between creating a proscenium opening which can be adjusted from 35 to 75 feet in width. In 2016, Max Bell Theatre received a major face-lift, with all of its seats replaced, and a new paint job throughout. The audio systems in the theatre were upgraded from analog, to state-of-the-art digital in 2014, and today it remains at the top of industry standard for theatres in Canada.
