Lightbox Studio: Sarah Nordean
Lightbox Studio (Beside the Martha Cohen Theatre)
Dates: August 11-September 28, 2015
Arts Commons hosts the evolving work of Calgary artist Sarah Norden as she fills the Lightbox Studio with detailed drawings in an exhibit entitled Keeping Track.
Keeping track is a performed drawing, taking shape between August 11th and September 28th in Lightbox Studio. The studio will be lined with paper on which the artist will make intricate ink drawings.
“I will work regularly in the space to make the drawing and marks will accumulate slowly over the length of the exhibition, filling the two paper-lined windows,” says Norden. “The diffused light from within the gallery will illuminate the drawings, allowing the work to be clearly seen by viewers visiting Arts Commons.”
Sarah Norden is a Calgary-based artist and educator who attended both Emily Carr University, and the Alberta College of Art and Design. Her art practice is an exploration of rhythm and its relationships with ritual, time, and place.
Calgary based artist and educator Sarah Nordean holds a BFA from the Alberta College of Art + Design, and a MAA from Emily Carr University. Recent activities include exhibitions at Stride Gallery in Calgary, the 2014 Design Biennial in Istanbul, and the Charles H. Scott Gallery in Vancouver.
